Short Stories
Practice
This is my finest short story. On one level, it is a story about the most mundane facet of marriage: infidelity. On another, it is an exploration of the creative and destructive powers of love, art, and obsession.
Senseless
Imagine the worst thing possible happening to you as you come home from college. Try to imagine being brave—and crazy—enough to face it head on. This story is about a tragedy, and, even moreso, its aftermath.
Spin Me
This is, for all intents and purposes, my first short story that matters. I think that every writer has one story that he or she tells over and over and over again. This story, the musings of ill-fated lovers Elis and Moriah, is mine.
Plays
Rosenthal & Gerstenzang are Dead!
This is the first play I wrote, directed, and produced. I had no experience in the theater and no idea what I was doing. I’m glad that I found a group of people willing to trust me on this one. It actually was a big hit. We filled our little theater way past the fire code (you didn’t hear that from me) and we had to turn a lot of people away. I hope that you can enjoy the text of this play without the lively theater atmosphere the Rude Mechanicals created for its original run.
Razing the Brow
The central event of this compact comedy is when the main character, a struggling stand-up comedian, wakes up missing an eyebrow. Either his wife shaved it off or the spirits in his new friend’s apartment spooked it away. Who knows? At any rate, I think this is funny and that everyone should read it.
