Microblogs and Social Networks
I am still in a post-once, cross-post everywhere (except LinkedIn) stage. There are too many services, and I have followers in Twitter and Identica that I don’t wish to lose, new followers in Google Buzz I don’t know what to do with, and actual friends I connect with on Facebook. It’s a mess, but cross-posting services such a Ping.FM make it painless for me. If you know me, just subscribe to me on the favorite service.

This is my newest stream. StatusNet is startup company that develops, markets, and supports an open source microblogging platform (also called StatusNet). I’m a huge fan of their ideas and their work. This site is OStatus-compatible, and can be subscribed to from any compliant service, such as Identi.ca.
Identi.ca
I use Identi.ca for microblogging. It is an open source platform that is not a closed garden like Twitter, so I enthusiastically support it. My friends aren’t on this platform, so I cross-post. (Life isn’t perfect.)
My Identi.ca postings are cross-posted to Twitter. I have more friends on Twitter, and use it to follow some celebs and interesting strangers. I’ve been capturing my Twitter feed on my website to serve as my “Lifestream.”
My Identi.ca postings are cross-posted to Facebook. Facebook is where most of my friends have profiles. I also use Facebook to share photos with friends and family.
Google Buzz
Google Buzz is sort of the new FriendFeed, I’m afraid. I don’t like commenting to streams here, and I don’t have any friends who use the service for much. I do, however, love the integration with Google Reader’s sharing feature.
