The December holidays are a special time for me and Allyson because last year, around this time, is when we first met each others’ families. Allyson came to my parents’ house for Christmas, and just afterwards, I went to her parents’ house for Hannukah. I was pretty nervous before I met them, but they made me feel very welcome, and by the middle of the evening I was joking around with the whole family.

This year, Hannukah came before Christmas, and I celebrated once again with Allyson’s parents—this time, not as a boyfriend but as a husband. It is so nice to be able to share another winter tradition with my new family. I was very excited to give my in-laws a cast-iron skillet, and promised them a cooking lesson on New Year’s Day.

Here are the photos I took to document the occasion.
